Sylford Walker & Welton Irie Lamb's Bread International
Sylford Walker's 'Lamb's Bread' is quintessential roots, recorded in 1977-8 by producer Glen Brown. Mixed by King Tubby, this reissue adds extended dub mixes and excellent deejay versions by Welton Irie to the original album. The little-recorded Walker is an authentic voice of the Kingston ghetto, here chanting 'truth & rights' over Brown's wickedly propulsive rhythms. By turns stark, brooding and mordant, the music remains as powerful and affecting as the day it was recorded. |
