Posse, Are You Ready? (Vol. I) - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

Been over 3 years since my last mix on 70s/80s reggae, so about time to drop something new again! Here is:

Posse, Are You Ready?

A mix focussing on what is probably my favourite era of Jamaican music: 1979 - 1985. One hour of pure rub-a-dub niceness. In this first volume (hopefully more to follow!) there's tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice. All tracks are taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous mix with some added soundsamples, sources of each track given. Check it out and try not to move to this, it wont work!

Drop me a comment if you enjoy the works. If there's enough interest, I'll probably drop a Vol. II and maybe even III soon.

Posse, Are You Ready? - Vol. I

Late august this year I dropped my first rub-a-dub mix in a long time: "Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. I". And because of all the positive response: here is Volume II (Part twowowowowo! as the man Jah Thomas says)! Same recipe as Vol. I: early 80s tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples.

Tracks in order of appearance:

01) Sugar Minott - All Kind Of People (Black & White 7)

03) Johnny Osbourne - Yo Yo (Black Zodiac 7)
04) Little Danny Dread - Spar With Us (Black Zodiac 7)
05) U Brown - Stop Your Bouncing (Jam It Tonight LP - CSA)

07) Billy Boyo - Jah Jah Made Me To Be A MC (DJ CLash 2 LP - Greensleeves)
08) Scion Sashay Success - Dance Hall Queen (Jah Life 12)
09) Bingy Bunny & Morwells - Apple Of My Eye (Bingy Bunny & Morwells LP - Park Heights)
10) Nicodemus - Star Fi-Di Show (Serious Nicodemus Chapter One - Sound System)
11) Midnight Riders - Illegal Gun (Showdown Vol. 9 - Tasha/DKR)

Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. III - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

Yes people, BMC Taking Over one more time! Here's the third and final volume of my short but sweet series of rub-a-dub mixes called "Posse, Are You Ready?". Wont be uploading next new mixes anymore after this one anytime soon (not in this series or otherwise), don't really enjoy it as much as I did anymore for a variety of reasons (wont bother you all with it here), so hopefully you'll agree it's nice enough to end with for now. This one will be Mixcloud only (for reasons I wont bother mentioning either) and perfectly suits the summer months ahead of us, together with Vol. I and II, also still available from my Mixcloud page. If you want more, take Johnny Osbourne's advise on the last track of this mix: if you happy and you love it, rewind! :-)

Same recipe as Vol. I & II: early 80s tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there. Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples. Feel good music. Enjoy!

Posse, Are You Ready? Vol. IV - a 1979 - 1985 rub-a-dub mix by BMC

The return of the Posse, Are You Ready? series is here! Presented the third and 'final' volume about a year and a half ago, not really feeling the motivation to continue making these kind of mixes anymore for a variety of reasons. The last couple of weeks however I played back all three volumes of Posse, Are You Ready? and loved 'm. That, in combination with some lovely new tunes in, brought back the motivation to make a Vol. IV, for my own enjoyment and the interested listeners out there. A lengthy break was needed apparentely. We'll see where it goes from here.
Recipe is the same as for Vol. I - III: rub-a-dub tunes by a whole variety of singers and deejays and no vocalist appears twice, all tracks taken from vinyl, so expect some crackle and pop here and there (plus a skip in one of the tracks this time, oops, can you find it?). Mix in the usual BMC style: no full tunes, one continuous 60 min. mix with some added soundsamples. Mixcloud only. So, Posse, Are You Ready for Vol. IV???
