nice list ranking glasses and really cool thread! i was thinking about a singer that has not been mentioned yet and found one - Naggo Morris. might not qualify for a top 20 list (very hard to break it down to 20 names anyway...) but Naggo Morris needs a shout out here too. very deep and soulful voice!

If your putting Naggo in there, surely there’s room for Leroy too?!!

Naggo Morris had a great voice but I'm not sure he had enough big tunes to be in the Top 20. If I put him in, who would come out, Bunny Wailer?

Leroy Samuel? :D https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4bRXNsL8bU

He doesn't have the vocal range.

yes, great soulful powerful voice! you have to search for his music on 7¨adn 12¨ - there is not even one original album by the man. naggo morris doesn't fit your list but from a quality point of view he probably would.

We've already discussed Ruddy Thomas. Who would you remove to include him?

Probably not quite Top 20 but I like Tinga and Roman Stewart. Quality!

I think I would put Leroy Brown in there. He was a passionate singer and did some of the hardest roots ever.

I don't think he's done enough big tunes and he hasn't got the vocal range.

Bim Sherman is an interesting one. He seems to be a bit of an enigma who I couldn't categorise.

Word. I remember buying Blood a Go Run / Help Us Jah on the Revue label back in the day. I'm embarrased to say that I don't know much of his music.

What do people think of Lloyd Parks (Slaving, Mafia, Officially, etc.)?

Why has no one mentioned the Marley clan?

Delroy Wilson
Justin Hinds
Alton Ellis
Zoot Simms
Slim Smith
Freddie McGregor
Desmond Dekker
Ken Boothe
Dennis Brown
Mikal Rose
Half Pint
Admiral Tibbet
Sugar Minott
FP
Michael Prophet
Peter Spence
Peter Hunnigale
Lloyd Brown
Garnett Silk
Luciano
Alpheus
(+ Leroy Smart : not a great voice ? Uh, beg to disagree, pretty unique and instantly recognizable!).
Tried to include artists from several eras, probably forgot many, but 20 could never be enough. I mentioned people who have released many great tunes, not just a few killer tunes.
No Marley clan here, simply because, imho, most of BM's great tunes were recorded as The Wailers, a vocal group. As for his boys, no, and one is a chanter/singjay, not a singer.

Dennis definitely included. No, no Gregory. He did record great tunes, but that's probably the only tune sung by him i'd never ever part with, which says a lot:
